After hitting a nearly four-year high of 1.3770 on Thursday, the GBP/USD fell by more than 0.10% to 1.3700, as the US dollar recovered some land losses after releasing its May core personal consumption expenditure (PCE) price index. This supports the dollar with improved confidence in household consumer in the United States.

The pound fell after approaching a four-year high as strengthening U.S. inflation and positive consumer confidence supported the dollar's rebound

State sentiment remained optimistic, with the annualized rate of core PCE in May rising by 2.7%, one-tenth higher than expected and higher than April's data. The overall annual inflation rate during the same period rose by 2.3% as expected.

Recently, data released by the University of Michigan (UoM) showed that consumer confidence improved moderately in June. The index rose from 60.5 to 60.7, while inflation expectations were lowered, with households expecting prices to rise from 5.1% to 5% in the www.xmh100.coming year. The upward bias of GBP/USD remains, but after approaching the multi-year high of 1.3770, the buyer seems to have lost some momentum. However, the momentum shown by the Relative Strength Index (RSI) suggests that bulls may test the 1.3800 level in the short term.

On the other hand, if the GBP/USD falls below 1.3700, it is expected to fall to 1.3600, and further downward will be seen below 20-day simple moving average (SMA) below 1.3561. If this level is broken, the next target will be the June 24 low of 1.3510.
