USD/Indian rupee rebounds as oil prices rebound and weak stocks lead to rupee falling

On Monday, the Indian Rupee (INR) was at a weak spot in the U.S. dollar (USD), affected by the end of the month dollar demand, capital outflows and a slight rebound in crude oil prices. The pullback www.xmh100.comes after the rupee hit its strongest weekly performance since January 2023.
The US dollar/Indian rupee pair rose slightly, erasing all losses from last Friday, trading around 85.70 as of press time. However, the pair hovers below the 50-day index moving average (EMA), highlighting the key technical obstacles facing bulls.
Meanwhile, the US dollar index (DXY) remained flat at the opening this week, continuing to hover around the multi-year lows around 97.00.
Despite the overall weakness of the U.S. dollar, the rupee is difficult to take advantage of this opportunity, as domestic and technical factors are dominating the U.S. dollar/Indian rupee trend. The dollar has been on a downside for the past five months and is likely to close lower this month.
Expectations for interest rate cuts have intensified over the past few days, and traders now give increasingly higher probability of policy easing, which is expected to be implemented as early as September. Market pricing shows that the likelihood of a rate cut in July has risen to 21.2%, while the probability of a rate cut in September has climbed to 73.8%, according to CME Group's Fed Watch Tool. The change reflects investors' reaction to growing fiscal concerns, political pressure on the Fed and weak U.S. economic outlook — all pushing markets to bet the Fed may begin easing policy earlier than previously expected.
Technical Analysis: USD/Indian Rupee tests 50-day EMA after rebounding at 85.50 support
USD/IndianRs traded around 85.71 on Monday, testing the 50-day EMA around 85.72, rebounding from the key support level of 85.50. The pair briefly fell below the region but failed to maintain this trend, triggering a slight intraday reversal.
This rebound occurs after breaking below the rising wedge pattern, sending a potential bearish weak signal. The instant support level is still at 84.98, while 86.00 is the next resistance level. The daily relative strength index (RSI) hovered around 48.85, pointing to neutral momentum.
If the closing above the 50-day EMA will help stabilize the outlook, and if it fails to maintain above 85.50–85.70, it may trigger new selling pressure. Traders may remain cautious ahead of the upcoming high-impact U.S. data released this week.
