On Wednesday (August 13), the US dollar fluctuated narrowly and was relatively weak overall. Currently trading around 98.03, close to the new low of more than two weeks that was set overnight. The U.S. inflation data released on Tuesday performed moderately, strengthening the market's expectations for the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates next month. Meanwhile, President Trump's move to expand control of American institutions also put pressure on the dollar.

Inflation data detonated the nuclear bomb for interest rate cuts

Tues on Tuesday showed that the U.S. Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose only slightly in July, in line with market expectations. So far, the transmission effect of Trump's www.xmh100.comprehensive tariffs on www.xmh100.commodity prices is still limited.

Investors looking forward to the Federal Reserve's upcoming interest rate cut welcomed this data. The market is currently betting that the probability of the Federal Reserve's interest rate cut next month is as high as 98%, which in turn will drag down the dollar.

White House spokesman Caroline Levitt said Tuesday that the U.S. president is considering filing a lawsuit against Fed Chairman Jerome Powell involving him managing the renovation of the Fed’s headquarters in Washington. Trump and Powell have been in a long-term dispute, and have repeatedly publicly criticized the Fed's chairman for failing to cut interest rates as soon as possible.
