In last week's live meeting, we clearly gave a reminder that gold prices will face greater pressure when they rise close to the 1,000 mark. Under this expectation, we did not continue to chase higher at the end of last week. Everyone has seen what happened next, and the gold market ushered in a substantial retracement.
At the beginning of this month, first affected by the U.S. government shutdown, which intensified the market's concerns about U.S. assets. In the absence of data release guidance, gold still rose strongly and continued to set new historical highs. Such a trend is unprecedented.
As of now, the international gold price has reached a historical high price of 4380, and the domestic gold price has basically reached a historical high price of 1000. In the long term, the trend remains unchanged, but in the short term, we need to be vigilant and avoid retracements.
In the short term, apart from the impact of the U.S. government shutdown, the trade relationship between China and the United States is a major event affecting the market. In just one week, the U.S.’s previously irrational remarks have changed, and it is the first to admit that the tariff war is unsustainable.
Different from other regions, after all, they are the two largest leading economies in the world, with equal strength. The "collision" between them also affects the global economy, and is ultimately transmitted to the financial market. The increase and decrease in risk aversion directly affects the gold market.
Let’s continue to look at the short term. Last week, the gold market accelerated to reach the top and then began to retrace. If there are no risk events to support it, the rebound is unlikely to continue. The previous high has become an important pressure point from a technical point of view, and a decent retracement is also technically needed.
The gold market has increased by more than 55% so far this year. How much can it retreat if it encounters obstacles? 10%, 20%? Even more, they are all normal spaces, just take the minimum 10% for calculation.A 200-point retracement from the high is obviously not much, which means there is still some room for adjustment.
Adjustment does not mean the end of the mid- to long-term upward trend. This point of view is clear and unambiguous.
The retracement of the gold market last Friday may mean that the phased rise is temporarily suspended. From a technical perspective, a "decent" retracement is needed. Only after the retracement can the rise be restarted to continue to break high. Therefore, as far as the current short-term market is concerned, I personally prefer to continue to watch the pullback and welcome new entry opportunities.
